Chapter 257 Volunteering: Bob Oke Game Farm

The game farm staff reached out to ask for help in caring for the pheasants at the Bob Oke Game Farm. The game farm raises over 40,000 birds, and is a critical part of the pheasant release program in Western Washington, and the farm is currently facing staffing shortages making it difficult to keep up the necessary workload to ensure a healthy pheasant population. PF members are encouraged to volunteer and support the farm's staff on any of these dates:

  • July: 24, 31
  • August: 1, 2, 14, 15, 22, 28, and 29

We are looking for one to two people each day to start at 8 am and work as long as they are available.

The tasks are all outdoors and include:

  • Walking the flight pens to clean automated waters and check available feed.
  • Opening gates for tractors
  • Feeding flight pens and filling feed carts
  • Assisting in installing waters in flight pens
  • Organizing transport boxes for the upcoming release season
  • Pressure washing brood areas.

Folks will need to dress appropriately for outdoor work (boots, pants, long sleeve shirts) and in layers to handle the varying weather conditions.

If you can help, please email both Christopher White and Danielle Wall at:

It is important to email both  to ensure the message is received in case one is out of the office. They will call or e-mail back to schedule a convenient day.
